Course Requirements
Applicants must have successfully completed at least 90 semester
hours at a United
States or
Canadian accredited college or university. However, strong preference is given
to applicants who have completed all requirements for a baccalaureate degree
prior to entering
the
School of
Dentistry. In addition, all applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

Must include laboratory |
| Advanced Biology and/or Chemistry |
2 semesters / 3 quarters |
Must be completed at senior college, but
no laboratory is required |
| Mathematics |
2 semesters / 3 quarters |
College algebra and trigonometry or higher
level. Students who qualify by placement tests to enter
Calculus I directly can satisfy their mathematics
requirement with a 3-hr. or 4-hr. Calculus I course;
the other required hours may be met by an
approved elective math course. |
| Statistics |
1 semester / 1 quarter |
General, business or scientific statistics.
This is in addition to one year mathematics requirement. |

While not required, these courses are highly recommended:
comparative
anatomy, biochemistry, biostatistics, speech, humanities core
courses, quantitative analysis, physical chemistry, embryology,
histology, immunology, microbiology, bacteriology, cell biology,
cell physiology, and psychology. |
Unacceptable Courses
Correspondence courses, courses in physical training, military science, dog-matic
religion, or courses in mathematics or science designed for non-science majors
WILL NOT satisfy the 90 semester hours of coursework listed as required or
recommended.
Approved Elective Courses
It is recommended that the student develop proficiency in a specific area
while in undergraduate school and acquire a background in the humanities and
social sciences, consulting with a predental adviser concerning specific courses.
Professional course work, in general, is discouraged or unacceptable.
Recommended elective courses include:
Psychology, sociology, philosophy, history, computer science, economics, literature,
and advanced English, foreign language, fine arts, business, accounting, and
selected advanced courses in mathematics, chemistry, physics, and biology.
