Biographical Information
As associate professor in Periodontics & Preventive Sciences, I write research grants, conduct research studies, work on publications, make presentations, and teach students about clinical information systems and the application of technologies in health care. As director of information technology, I am working on applying new technologies into the education of health professionals, integrating technology into health care research, and developing the electronic health record. I supervise staff managing and maintaining the networking infrastructure, servers, databases, our clinical information systems, digitizing teaching and course materials, maintaining a functional website, and integrating new technologies.
My areas of greatest interest are epidemiology, health informatics, health disparities, geographic information systems, access to health care and services, and health-related quality of life. I stay extremely busy and enjoy the challenges that each day at UMC brings me.
