Biographical Information
A native of Oxford, Mississippi, Dr. Duncan attended the University of Mississippi and received his DDS degree from the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry in 1968. After serving two years with the U.S. Army Dental Corps at Ft. Carson, Colorado, Dr. Duncan practiced general dentistry in Chattanooga, Tennessee from 1971 through 1974. He completed his residency in prosthodontics and received his Masters of Science and Dentistry degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 1976.
In 1976, Dr. Duncan accepted a faculty position at the newly formed University of Mississippi School of Dentistry and was primarily responsible for developing the removable and fixed prosthodontic curriculum. He served as coordinator of the removable prosthodontic curriculum from 1976 through 1984 and served as coordinator of the fixed prosthodontic curriculum from 1985 through 2003. During this time, Dr. Duncan accomplished numerous regional presentations and journal publications related to new advancements in prosthetic dentistry. He has also completed significant research in metal casting accuracy and developed new techniques in fabrication and colorization of facial prostheses.
Dr. Duncan presently serves as Professor of Restorative Dentistry and Associate Dean for Student Affairs. He serves on numerous university committees and chairs the Admissions Committee and the Student Loan and Scholarship Committee.
