Biomaterials The biomaterials laboratories, totaling approximately 5,500 square feet, are housed on the first and fifth floors of the School of Dentistry. These facilities allow for materials evaluation and development from a wide variety of viewpoints as well as projects in biomechanics. In addition to laboratory analysis, medical and dental materials may be evaluated both in vitro and in vivo. In vivo evaluation may be performed using a wide variety of animal models. Human clinical evaluations of orthopaedic materials continue to be performed by clinical faculty at the Medical Center Hospital and dental materials are evaluated by clinical and basic science faculty in the School of Dentistry. Large scale dental materials clinical research may be performed in the School of Dentistry Clinical Dental Research Center (CDRC). JP McGinnis Research Center The Clinical Dental Research Center (CDRC) at the University of Mississippi Medical Center was established in 1995. Since then the CDRC has initiated numerous clinical studies. The scope of research conducted at the CDRC includes aspects of dentistry. It was renamed the J.
