The BASE Pair mentorship program teams Jackson Public School students with practicing scientists
at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. The Office of Dental Research supports this program
by mentoring one or two BASE Pair Students each year.
Giovanni Adams, a former BASE Pair Student, was mentored by faculty in the Office of Dental
Research. Giovanni received numerous awards competing in science competitions including a trip to
Japan and an internship at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD. His crowning achievement
is a full scholarship to Yale University.
