Excellence in the Field of Clinical Trials

The Clinical Dental Research Center (CDRC) at the University of Mississippi Medical Center was established in 1995. Since then the CDRC has initiated numerous clinical studies. The scope of research conducted at the CDRC includes aspects of dentistry. It was renamed the J. Perry McGinnis, Jr. Clinical Dental Research Center in 2001.

The CDRC is comprised of three collaborative focuses:

Clinical Research and Trials are conducted in a variety of medical and dental settings providing patient care and education, and research.

Molecular/Cellular Biology provides information in the areas of microbiology, immunology, biochemistry and cellular biology.

Biomaterials provides training and development in the uses and application of new materials.

The collaborative areas of focus regularly overlap as materials, methods and knowledge expand for the lab setting into patient care and from dentistry into the medical field. In a relatively short period of time, the CDRC has made significant progress with an optimistic future ahead. The CDRC is committed to providing a comprehensive range of services with an emphasis on patient involvement and advanced technologies.

    Goals of the CDRC

To provide a professional and supportive opportunity to transfer basic sciences to applied clinical research.

To provide a location for corporations and industries to develop and test new medical and dental pharmaceuticals and devices.

To adhere to Good Clinical Practices and the International Conference on Harmonisation, Federal guidelines and regulations, clinical research protocols and implementation of clinical trials.

To provide an outreach service to the community.

To provide high quality, successful, reliable clinical trials.
