Mission
As an integral part of the University of Mississippi School of Dentistry, the overarching goal of the Department of Periodontics and Preventive Sciences is to develop well-rounded dentists with expertise in the diagnosis and management of the periodontal diseases. This expertise must be based in a sound understanding of the fundamentals of Periodontics and the development of skills in observation, interpretation of that observation, and the application of knowledge to the problems that have been identified. In addition, the department will contribute to expanding the body of knowledge that is the science of Periodontics and to provide high quality patient care and other services to the profession and the community at large.
