Standards Development Activities in ASTM International
ASTM International is a standards development organization
whose members write consensus standards for a broad range of
industries in the United States and around the world. Since
1960, the members of ASTM Committee F04 on Medical and Surgical
Materials and Devices have created standards dealing with materials
for use in medical devices, testing methods for materials and
devices, specifications for devices, and performance standards
for certain devices. Faculty and staff of the Department of
Biomedical Materials Science have been involved in the activities
for as long as 25 years.
Among the activities in which we have participated are:
• Development of Testing Standard
• Development of Materials Specifications
• Chaired Symposia
• Research Paper Presentation at Symposia
